For big-time shopping with a small-town feel and a real sense of history, head to Uptown Westerville.

Westerville’s original town center since 1858, the historic area once served as a stagecoach stop and place of refuge on the Underground Railroad.

Today, it hosts a wide variety of businesses, along with Otterbein University, and memorable homes along tree-lined streets. You could spend a whole day just wandering the main drag, State Street.

The unique neighborhood is home to 105 local merchants, including shops, coffee houses, restaurants, and service providers. Schneider’s Bakery, for one, has been serving up baked goods for more than 64 years.
