Get to Know Grove City

Grove City Series Part 1

June 21, 2019

In this series, get to know the southwest Columbus suburb of Grove City. In four segments, we’ll introduce you to the series and then cover the city’s history, fun activities and dining and drinking options. We hope you enjoy this series and are able to check out Grove City in person.

Ten miles southwest of downtown Columbus is Grove City, the central Ohio region’s fourth largest city behind only Columbus, Newark and Dublin.

Founded in 1852, Grove City was long a quiet farming community but started to flourish when, in 1923, Ohio’s first thoroughbred racetrack opened at Beulah Park. Five years after the racetrack closed in 2014, Grove City is as vibrant as ever — a diverse community of more than 42,000 residents, 1,200 businesses and 21 parks on 360 acres. Residents enjoy all the conveniences of metropolitan living with the affordability and comforts of a small town, plus convenient access to I-270, I-71, US 62 and SR-665.

In this series, we’re excited to touch on all the great things about Grove City, including the new public library in the heart of downtown that is walkable to nearby shops and restaurants. A block away, next to the Grove City municipal offices, the upscale Broadway Station apartments opened recently, an amenity-laden community for millennials and renters of all ages and lifestyles. The city is also home to one of the region’s finest golf courses and event facilities, the Pinnacle Golf Club. And highlighting a spurt of investment and interest, the historic but long-vacant Beulah Park is being transformed into a massive $300 million district of housing, retail and offices.

With so much going on in Grove City, be sure to stop by for a visit. You’ll be surprised what you discover.
