Minerva Park is the Place to be for Outdoors Enthusiasts

In this article, we highlight all the outdoor amenities around Minerva Park, from trails and lakes to elevated viewing decks for wild turkeys. There’s no shortage of outdoor activities!

If you’d like to live in an urban setting yet still have ample access to parks and hiking trails, then Minerva Park is the place for you.

The mostly residential village in northeast Columbus is situated within four busy corridors — East Dublin Granville Road (State Route 161), Morse Road, Cleveland Avenue, and Westerville Road — but residents can access some of central Ohio’s nicest parks and trails in just a few minutes.

Here are some of the closest options, each with their own unique style:

Blendon Woods Metro Park: Home to spectacular ravines, a lake, open fields, and dense forests, this 653-acre park is a great place to view wildlife, including songbirds, waterfowl, and wild turkeys. There is even a pair of elevated observation shelters with scopes to view waterfowl. Visitors to Blendon Woods can take part in a variety of activities, including day camps, disc golf, picnicking, ice skating, and cross-country skiing.

Sharon Woods Metro Park: The 761-acre park has a mix of forests and fields, and features the 11-acre Schrock Lake and the Edward Thomas Nature Preserve. Sharon Woods is a great place to bike, fish, picnic, sled, and explore nature.

Inniswood Metro Gardens: This 123-acre park is located within a scenic nature preserve. Inniswood is home to more than 2,000 species of plants, as well as specialty collections and theme gardens. Anyone can support the park by becoming a member of the Inniswood Garden Society.

Rocky Fork Metro Park: Home to more than three miles of walking trails, Rocky Fork offers a variety of activities for the whole family. Amenities include a play area for kids, a large shelter for family picnics, an equestrian trail, dog park, and an off-leash trail for dogs.

Alum Creek Trail: Tracing one of the city’s most scenic river corridors, the Alum Creek Trail runs from Westerville to Three Creeks Park, a span of about 20 miles. The trail has convenient hop-on and hop-off locations and is popular with walkers, joggers, and cyclists.

  • Distance from Minerva Park: 1 mile
  • Location: The trail has three major sections: North (from Westerville to Easton Way), Central (from Easton Way to Ohio Dominican University), South (from Airport Drive to Three Creeks Park)

With such great access to the outdoors, it’s no surprise that Minerva Park has grown recently, including with the opening of the Four Pointe apartment complex in 2016. If you’re interested in calling Minerva Park home, the Rhove partner property is an excellent option, located within the prestigious Westerville school district and filled with spectacular amenities like a swimming pool and theater room.
