If you’re looking to grab a drink or a bite to eat in Columbus, the downtown area has no shortage of options.

Over just the past few years, downtown’s reputation as a drinking and dining destination has grown rapidly, and new establishments are opening all the time. And there’s truly something for everybody, from cozy coffee shops to upscale restaurants and lively bars for a night out on the town.

In this Food and Drink segment, we’ll highlight some of downtown’s most popular haunts, all within walking distance of one another.

Lunch and Dinner

Si Senor: A quick lunch spot serving up authentic Peruvian cuisine with a Latin flare. The family-owned restaurant offers a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts, and smoothies, all made from scratch.

Rishi: Excellent sushi and a large selection of Asian-inspired cocktails, sake and Japanese whiskey are paired by knowledgeable staff.

Milestone 229: A truly unique experience with spectacular views of downtown, Bicentennial Park and the Scioto Mile, Milestone 229 features elevated comfort food made from scratch.

The Walrus: A lively bar and restaurant featuring live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Throughout the week, enjoy comfort food and a selection of 30 draft beers, plus 24 big screen TVs.

Pecan Penny’s: Serving up delicious smoked barbecue with traditional southern specialties, sides, desserts, and a full bar, Pecan Penny’s features a patio with an outdoor fire pit.

Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails: A comfort-food favorite with $2 PBRs always on tap, plus whiskey concoctions, microbrews, and locally baked desserts.

Ringside Cafe: A staple of downtown’s dining scene since 1897 and home to one of the best burgers around, Ringside is a no-frills atmosphere with boxing memorabilia, stained glass windows and classic wood furniture.

Fun & Games

Pins Mechanical Co.: This full-on adult playground will keep you entertained with duckpin bowling, pinball, foosball, patio pong, and more. Or just kick back with a beer or specialty cocktail while enjoying food trucks, TVs, and the outdoor fire pit.

16-Bit Bar + Arcade: Home to 40-plus vintage arcade games, a wide selection of beers, and specialty cocktails.

Coffee

Brioso Coffee: A mainstay since 2001, Brioso has created a culture of community around specialty coffee.

The Roosevelt Coffeehouse: A popular coffee shop always buzzing with downtown workers and college students. Profits from Roosevelt support initiatives that fight hunger, unclean water, and human trafficking.

Hemingway’s Coffee Nook: A cozy space replicating Paris cafes of the 1920s, when artists and thinkers like Ernest Hemingway would gather to share ideas.

Beer, wine, cocktails

Wolf’s Ridge: All under one roof, a beautifully designed restaurant features upscale dining, a cozy taproom is ideal for casual drinks and a board game, and the Hickory Room can be rented for private gatherings.

Platform Beer Co.: Tucked into a semi-industrial area on the edge of downtown, this taproom and small-scale brew operation serves up experimental craft beer for the adventurous at heart.

The Citizens Trust: This upscale cocktail lounge in a stunning old bank building features a Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat-inspired cocktail menu.
